It's Christmas Eve, and you are fast asleep. Suddenly, you awake; it's the middle of the night. You hear sounds coming from downstairs.
What will you do?
[[You go investigate.]]
[[You hide in the closet.]]
[[You jump out the window.]]You go downstairs to investigate the sounds (Kylie)
Startled by the strange noises coming from downstairs, you slowly get yourself out of bed and gradually make your way towards the entrance of your room. Standing face to face with the door, you stand hesitantly, in fear of what awaits you on the other side. Wearily, you place your hand on the door knob and slowly begin to twist it open. You peek your head out and look side to side, the hallway is eerily dark, with bits of moonlight shining in through the windows. As you take in your surroundings, a sudden crash sounds from the kitchen, startling you as you let out a small yelp. Dreadfully, you decide to make your way down the stairs hoping that whatever got in was just a racoon, or a really big rat. Standing at the foot of the stairs, a shadow looms over the walls as you see the silhouette of a man-like creature taking residence in your kitchen. Peeking your head past the wall to see who it is, you come across a zombie splayed across the counters, grumbling while exploring your kitchen cabinets.
What will you do?
[[Sneak Away]]
[[Surprise Attack]]You decide to hide in the closet. (Ben)
Quickly, you open your closet door and close it behind you. The door squeaks, and whatever it is that is in your house has heard you.
It enters your room; you hear whatever it is searching for you. You peer through a gap in the closet doors and catch a glimpse of the figure against the dull moonlight streaming in from your window.
What will you do?
[[Stay in the closet]]
[[You make a run for it]]You decide to jump out the window. (Shayan)
Thinking brashly, you throw your sheets off and bolt over to the window of your bedroom. If you were more conscious, then maybe you'd be able to see how terrible of an idea this was, but in your panicked sleep-deprived state you somehow registered the idea of throwing yourself out of the window as acceptable.
You quickly unfasten the bolts and lift off the screen, letting in a gust of cold winter air. Before you put a foot out the window, a thought quickly flits your mind. "Am I really about to throw myself out a window because of some sounds I heard downstairs?", you say to yourself. At this point, you might have drawn yourself back into your room, but a loud crash downstairs causes you to thrust your leg out of the window as you get ready to jump. You quickly look down towards the ground, you don't have much time so you have to make sure you have a smooth landing.
[[Aim for the bushes]]
[[Aim for the snow]]You decide to sneak away.
Your body freezes in shock at seeing the undead creature mucking around your kitchen. Not wanting to be seen, you slowly back away and try to escape through the front door. Turning your back to the kitchen, you quietly creep towards the front door hoping the zombie doesn’t notice your presence. The sounds of shattering glass and slamming cupboards keeps you on edge, as you pray the zombie stays occupied long enough for you to make your escape. As you're about to reach the door, the floorboard creaks loudly and you stop in your tracks. The bustling in the kitchen comes to a halt, as silence washes over the house. You feel your heart drop to your stomach as you hear the slow creaking of footsteps making its way out of the kitchen. Your blood runs cold as you feel the presence of a being standing directly behind you. Slowly turning your head, you come face to face with dead eyes. Experiencing the most intense staring contest of your life, you feel the tension rising as your eyes begin to water. It feels as though hours have passed, unable to bear the burn in your eyes, you blink. The zombie cackles at your loss, suddenly lunging towards you. In efforts to evade the attack, you dive backwards, tripping over your feet and hitting your head against the door behind you. On impact, your eyes burst open as your body jerks forward, taking labored breaths, you sit up on your bed frantically looking around. A dream? You pat yourself down in disbelief to make sure that what you were currently experiencing was real life. Feeling embarrassed at the intensity of your dream, you decide to stay in bed for the day and wallow in pity. You decide to go for a surprise attack.
Clenching your fists, you monitor the zombie while deciding what to do next. As the zombie continues to rummage through your kitchen, you decide that the best course of action is to catch the creature off guard. Looking around the living room, you notice an umbrella in the corner of the room, you grab it and go back to hiding behind the wall. With the creatures back towards you, you slowly creep up behind it, raising the umbrella above your head. Right as you’re about to strike, the zombie turns around staring at you in shock. You scream and whack the zombie upside the head, using so much force he topples over onto the floor. Before the creature can get back up, you rush to attack a second time. Body filled with adrenaline; you clumsily hurl yourself towards the zombie. Stumbling over your own feet, you lose balance, hitting your head against the counter effectively knocking yourself out. You jolt awake, sitting up straight while rubbing the back of your head. Looking around, you find yourself on the couch covered with snack bags with the tv on. As the end credits roll by, you realize you fell asleep halfway through the zombie movie you were watching. You stay in the closet, desperately hoping the figure won't hear your breathing. Unfortunately for you, it has, and is now taking heavy, labored steps towards the closet door. Peering through the crack, which is soon filled by the massive silhouette of a man. The doors fly open. You scream, and before anything else can happen you suddenly shoot up in bed, having woken up. It was all just a dream. You carefully pry the closet doors open, careful not to make any sound. You creep down the hallway, and as you get to the stairs you miss the top step, causing you to fall all the way down. Before you can move, the figure suddenly rushes down the stairs after you, and against the pale moonlight you realize – it's a zombie!! It jumps onto you, and you struggle, clutching onto its head trying to keep it away. You can feel the zombie wrap and snake around you before you suddenly jolt awake – tied, and wrapped in your blanket, clutching your pillow that has found itself on top of you. It was all just a dream. You decide to aim for the bushes.
You notice the bushes directly below your window and get an idea. Instead of directly jumping out, you slowly move out of the window hanging on to the ledge. You get as low as you possiby can before letting go and making a soft impact with the ground below you. Aside from a few scratches, you're completely unharmed. You peer into the windows downstairs to get a glimpse of any potential intruders and your gaze meets a tall, lanky and slumped over silhouette. There's someone in your house.
You press your face up to the window to get a better look at the man in front of you. He appears to be bald, and the only word you can think of to describe his skin would be "rotten". He slowly turns around, not noticing you in the window, letting you get a better look at his face. His jaw is abnormally long, almost as if it were hanging off of his body by a thread. Your suspicions are confirmed when he steps into the light of the kitchen, and the sight before you is enough to make you stumble backwards into the snow. Whoever this man is, you could only describe his appearance as being akin to that of a zombie.
The thud of your body hitting the ground is loud enough to alert him, or rather "it", to your presence. It quickly snaps it's head towards the window, letting out a weak and almost animalistic groan, as they take two slow steps towards the window, slowly speeding up until they hit a brisk jog and lunge towards the window frame, completely shattering the glass in your direction and throwing themselves on top of your body. The amount of shock that runs through your blood feels electric.
Your body jerks forward as your surroundings become momentarily unrecognizable as your met with a familiar warmth. You freeze, taking a moment to look around you and realize you're back in your bedroom, laying on your mattress. After a few labored breaths you flop back into your bedding, wiping the sweat from your forehead. What a strange dream, you say to yourself, as you try to ease up and go back to sleep.
//But as you drift off, you swear you could make out what sounds like disturbed groaning coming from the hallway...//You decide to aim for the snow.
Without thinking, your fight or flight instincts take over your body and you throw yourself out of the window, hoping that the snow below will be enough to cushion your fall. You close your eyes, hoping that the impact will be soft enough until you come crashing down into the ground, with a rush of pain running up your legs and throughout your entire body. You try to stifle it, but you can't help yourself from releasing a gutteral scream of pain. The sound of you yelling was enough to reveal the worst, as you see a silhouette grow bigger in the window of your kitchen. Someone is in your house.
As he gets closer, you can start to make out more of his appearance. He appears to be bald, and the only word you can think of to describe his skin would be "rotten". His jaw is abnormally long, almost as if it were hanging off of his body by a thread. Your suspicions are confirmed when he steps into the light of the kitchen, and the sight before you is enough to make you stumble even further into the snow. Whoever this man is, you could only describe his appearance as being akin to that of a zombie.
